I’m calling regarding full funding for the McNesby Act.
The state is underfunding programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Additional funding is important. Hundreds of adults with disabilities have elderly parents - when these parents are gone their children could be institutionalized.
Direct Support Professionals do heroic work for low pay. This leads to high employee turnover, which can lead to substandard care, which could lead to tragedy.
Better-trained staff that stays on the job longer will result in better care and a safer environment for adults with I/DD, and help prevent costly hospitalizations and institutionalizations.
